French Bread

One bowl french bread that is easy to make

Total Time 2 hours 20 minutes
Servings 1 french bread loaf

Ingredients

  • 1 Package Yeast
  • 1 Cup Water
  • ½ Cup Milk
  • 1 Tablespoon Sugar
  • 2 Teaspoons Salt
  • 1 Tablespoon Extra Virgin Olive Oil Le Stagioni D'Italia
  • 4 Cups All Purpose Flour
  • 1 Tablespoon Cornmeal

Instructions

  • Dissolve Yeast in ½ cup water
  • Add sugar, salt, oil, the rest of water, and warmed milk.
  • Mix well, cover, and rise for 1 hour.
  • Divide in half and form into 2 loaves on an oiled sheet with the cornmeal sprinkled on the sheet.
  • Cover and Rise for 30 minutes.
  • Score the tops of the loaves with a knife.
  • Bake at 400 Degrees for 20 to 30 Minutes. Let bread rest until warm to cut.

Notes

Herbed Olive Oil
  • 1/2 Cup EVOO Le Stragioni D'Italia 100% Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon rosemary
  • 1/4 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
Mix all ingredients in a small bowl. Olive oil can be warmed if preferred. Cut french bread slices and dip into the oil.
